SV-335 claims he was born 2 Feb. 1775.
Edgar Cress says he died ca 1871 based upon Smyth co., VA will of 15 Aug 1872, but that John Cress was the son of Nicholas Cress and was born in 1790.

1821 Augusta Co., VA Guardian Book: Christian Fauber, guardian, Pleasant Ewell, surety, Elizabeth Cress, orphan of John Cress. (SV-480) Note: My database on Sep. 2001 had no other John Cress born prior to 1800, so by process of elimination John, born 1767, is the one!
SV-242 claims he is Jacob and his 2nd wife is Rosanna Coons
1840 KY census: John Crase living in Estill co. aged 70-80. Is this him?? Probably not due to reference above of 1821 orphan of John Cress in Augusta co., VA. (SV-480)
