Could this be the Geo H. Cress whose tombstone appears to show deathdate of 1962 (it was probably a typo in the book and should be 1862) ??

1860 Ohio Census (Ancestry.com): George Cruse (sic) (33 OH) living in Gallia Co. with wife, Rhoda (26 OH) and 3 kids: Eliza (8 ); Charles (5 ) and William (3 ).
Sept. 1863 Land Deed Vol. 33 pg 20 says that Geo H Cress is deceased and 40 acres of his property is sold to Thomas Pierce for $533. (SV-288)
