Civil War: Was living in Cutshin Creek while her father served in the Union Army. Confederates invaded their area so her brothers Jim and Wm took their horses and what supplies they could carry and took to the hills. About 1864-5 Captain Hayes with his guerilla rebels came and destroyed al they could in the area. Moma (Nancy Jane) quarreled with him when he threatened to burn down their house. (SV-404 pg 348)
