Abt 1863 Rebels raided their farm taking most of the food. (SV-1502)
He enrolled in Union Army 9 Aug. 1863 at Irvine, KY and was mustered out at Lexington, KY on 26 Dec. 1864. His compiled service record is at the National Archives (SV-149)
He served in the Union Army as Pvt in co. C 47th KY Vol. Mtd. Inf. However, this does not agree with the story told by Barbara Ellen Cress that he served 3 yrs 3 mo.; was on an expedition up the Red River in Arkansas was captured and held for 3 months near the end of the war. (SV-404 pg 314)
SV-404 pg 353 says he died 11 Apr 1876 in Perry Co., KY.
