Her changes in first names causes much confusion, but 1860 Smyth Co., VA birth record for Louisa T. C. Cress says the mother is Mary V. Cress and then Louisa’s death certificate shows her mother as Nancy Cress. They must be different names for the same woman. (SV-1087)
1870 VA census indicates she was 39 and born in N.C. (SV-713)
Smyth Co., VA cemetery Vol. 2 lists her tombstone which does not show a birth date but says she died 18 July 1896 aged abt 62 years. (SV-413)
Beverly Faulkner says they married 1852-3. (SV-403)
SV-252 says they married Abt 1856.
Is she the same person as Mary V. (ID No. 9015) ??
Did Josiah really have a 1st wife named Mary V. and a 2nd wife named Nancy V?
SV-417 is a transcription of birth records directly from Smyth co., VA courthouse
books and those records show Eliza J. born 1858 to Josiah & Mary V. Cress but they show John L. Cress born in 1854 to Josiah & Nancy V. Cress.
SV-314 (1880 VA census) says she was born in VA
