His will 12 Sept. 1861 (SV-287):
He leaves his estate to his wife, Mary Grove.
At her death the value of the estate should pass to their children.
To be distributed as follows:
1) My body shall have a decent Christian burial in the graveyard which has the mortal remains of many members of my family.
2) My debts to be paid.
3) All personal property to my wife and 40 acres in the NE qtr of Gallia co. & lower half of Gallipolis town lot #15.
4) After the death of my wife, I direct that my property be sold at auction and divided among my 9 heirs:
