1810 NC Census (Ancestry.com) shows a Christopher Cheatham in Guildford Co. near a Thos Reed.
1810 VA Search (Ancestry.com) shows a Christopher CHEFFER (or CHEFFEN) living in Washington Co.

NOTE: 1830 Carter Co., TN Census (Ancestry.com) lists George Reed aged 50-60 living in Carter Co., TN near David & Samuel Cress.

1850 She was living in Speedwell, Claiborne Co., TN. (SV-404 pg 9 & 59)
1850 Claiborne Co., TN (Ancestry.com): Nathaniel Cress (22 VA) living in subdiv. 7 with: Sarah J. Cress (42 VA); Shadrach Cress (11 VA); Samuel McKinny (7 VA); Amanda J. McKinny (4 VA); and Nancy Cress (56 VA). (but this seems fudged on the low side). (SV-404 pg 418 & pg 727 & SV-747)
1855 She received her dead husband’s 80 acre bounty land and sold it.
1860 U.S. Census (Ancestry.com): Not found.
Some researchers believe she lived with son, Henry during the Civil War in Leslie Co., KY. (SV-404 pg 60) This is supported by Barbara Cress’ story in SV-404 pg 348 which says that during the Civil War Captain Hayes’ guerilla’s came through Cutshin area and destroyed much. He threatened to burn down the Cress house but Nancy Jane (Moma) quarrelled with him but grandma was timid and didn’t say anything. Or could it have been Barbara’s other grandmother, Charlotte Bausley?
1870 Estill Co., KY census shows a Nancy Cress age 82 b. VA, next door to daughter, Elizabeth Wells. (SV-461 & SV-1397)
1872 She was living in Speedwell, Claiborne Co., TN. (SV-404 pg 63)
She drew his last pension pmt 4 June 1875 (SV-149)
Alice Ure’s DAR appl. says she died in Claiborne Co., TN after 4 Aug 1872. (SV-1878.2)
Yvonne Mergan claims she died 9 Aug. 1878 in Lee Co., VA.
